From July 10th to July 14th, members of the International Police Association (IPA) from seven different countries gathered in Eastern Estonia for a Friendship Week. The occasion was not only about fostering international bonds but also marked the 30th anniversary of the Estonian section of IPA.
During the five-day event, participants had the opportunity to get an inside look at the operations of the Estonian police, visiting both police stations and the Estonia-Russia border crossings. They also explored some of Estonia's picturesque spots, such as Viru Bog in Lahemaa National Park and the impressive Valaste Waterfall. Museums, including the Casemates of the Victoria Bastion, Narva Castle, Moe Distillery Museum, and the Estonian Mining Museum, were on the itinerary. The once-secret city of Sillamäe and the Kreenholm area in Narva added unique experiences.
After eventful days, everyone enjoyed a classic Estonian sauna experience, with sauna benches that never seemed to grow cold as they were always occupied.
Another highlight was a visit to the police museum in Rakvere, where attendees recognized symbols and uniform items from their own countries. Deputy Mayor Kert Karus and city council members also gave insights into Rakvere's offerings and future plans. Near Rakvere, in Lepna, participants explored a car collection owned by Oleg Gross, which included a spectacular three-million-euro helicopter. The day ended with a visit to Rakvere Castle and a festive dinner with IPA Estonian section members.
At the end of the week, the IPA Estonian section's summer days brought together a total of 209 participants, including 62 guests from 13 different countries. Traditional summer sports activities took place over two days, allowing everyone to choose their preferred activities or simply enjoy the summer ambiance. The event concluded with a memorable evening featuring the band "Nukker Kukeke" and an exciting surprise—fire dancers, bringing a spectacular end to the Friendship Week.
Saturday's day ended with an impressive fire show and fireworks.
