THE SECTIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL POLICE ASSOCIATION from the Nordic-Baltic Region (at present Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Norway and Sweden) convened in Rakvere, Estonia, 2 – 4 June 2017, and agreed on the following statement regarding their vision of the ideal representative of the International Police Association.
The sections call on all other sections to strongly support the original values and principles of the IPA with due respect to progress and renewal.
Bearing in mind that the IPA forms an integral part of not just only the law enforcement world but also the world as a whole. The following general principles and values are considered key points for the ideal IPA representative:
Respecting and honouring human rights in all actions and deeds, whether acting professionally or privately;
Communicating and liaising openly and impartially with all sections and associate members of the IPA;
Acting in true friendship based on the values established by Arthur Troop;
Supporting and developing members’ possibilities to broaden their general knowledge and exchange of professional experience at the international education centre, IBZ Gimborn, supported by the IPA, as well as elsewhere;
Always seeking to act in the interests of all members in financial matters and without favourism;
Adhering to statutes and rules and acting in accordance with these;
The sections have agreed that any candidate running for official office should as a minimum meet these criteria to gain our support.
